President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has emphasized the need for robust collaboration between Nigeria and South Africa to propel Africa’s development and progress. Speaking as co-chairman at the 11th session of the Nigeria-South Africa Bi-National Commission (BNC), Tinubu highlighted the shared responsibility of both nations in shaping a prosperous future for the continent.

Reflecting on the enduring relationship between the two countries, Tinubu acknowledged that successive governments in Nigeria and South Africa have consistently recognized the strategic importance of their partnership. He underscored that this bond is deeply rooted in a shared history and the pivotal leadership roles both nations play on the African stage. Tinubu called for a reinvigorated commitment to advancing this collaboration under the current administrations, describing it as a historical obligation rather than a mere option.

“Our successive governments on both sides have recognized the importance of our shared history and ongoing collaboration,” he stated. “The spirit of cooperation between our two leading nations must not only persist but also deepen under our leadership. This is not simply a matter of policy but of destiny—a historical duty we owe to the African people.”

Tinubu’s remarks underscore the necessity for Nigeria and South Africa to leverage their influence and resources to address Africa’s challenges and unlock its vast potential. The call for strengthened ties aims to foster unity and drive collective progress across the continent.
